Jeg har en dator!

And the rest of this post will be english, since it gets technical.

Okay, I want to make a quick guide for everyone to use as a reference for when they order a new system. (or upgrade a old one)

Bottlenecks.
A bottleneck is a phenomenon where the performance or capacity of an entire system is severely limited by a single component. The component is sometimes called a bottleneck point. The term is metaphorically derived from the neck of a bottle, where the flow speed of the liquid is limited by its neck.

This also affects computers, cause where's the idea behind a 3ghz, gts vid, 8gb monster, if your using 5400rpm ide disks.. That just not make sence.

So how do you get the best performance.

Think about your needs, if you just can't live with anything less that 300fps in Crysis with every setting to Very High, then don't use this guide..

If you need a cheap (1250-1400euro) mashine with everything a great setup would be.

2.4Ghz 1333mhz bus Core2 Processor
ASUS Lifestyle AI (Perhaps Gamer of the Republic) nforce motherboard
2 x 1GB DDR-2 800 - 1066mhz ram (possible 4Gb)
2 x SATA-300 7.200 rpm disks with atleast 8mb cache
Nvidia 8800GT (cheap GTS) video card
22" LCD Screen, I reccomend Samsung.

The you have a great system, that will serve you good, don't worry about how its looking or if it has watercooling or not, get a great system that operates well.
You should really setup raid, since all ASUS motherboards in those series supports it and you will notice games and operating loading times will decrease. I load wow area's in 2-3 secs (ie. going from Orgrimmar to Undercity) on this type of system. and you can unpack large compressed files really fast on a raid, especially if y ou have a extra sata-300 disk for storage.

If you really want a great system that keeps on rocking. You have to use atleast 2000euro.. with actually is not a lot when you consider what your getting back.. go ahead and check my brother's system specs. :)

3.0-3.4Ghz Core 2 processor
Gamer of the Republic / Gigabyte (like the P35-DS3R, Supports 4 x DDR2 and 2 x DDR3 ram) motherboard.
4 x 2GB DDR-2 1066mhz ram
4 x SATA-300 7.200 rpm wd Caviar disks for raid0 for speed. (With a 2 x disk large raid0 for storage)
Nvidia 8800GTS x 2 for SLi
Possible 2 x 22" LCD Screens, again Samsung.

This setup looks soooo sweet because you have a wooping 44" actual desktop..
I personally use the extra monitor for SSH, MSN, IRC and E-mail, where I play and Surf on the main monitor. the desktop is 3360x1050 in total, and a lot of games support this.. If you know and play EVE Online, I can say, you have not tried space combat, if you not played with dual monitors! its amazing..

You don't have to to buy a monitor with either mashine, if your still using CRT monitors, keep them cause, their still faster than LCD monitors. I personally miss my 21" Enzo monitor..

If you want, respond to this thread with your system specs, and ask me what the cheapest and easiest way to upgrade would be.. I also hope to have a lot of fun geeky conversations to NitroXy! :) See some of you friday.!
It's time to play Crysis :D

I like hardware, i have pictures of graphic cards and motherboards in my Porn folder.

Your setups seems nice, if you have any experience with overclocking i would gladly take a lesson from you. About the dual 22" that sounds a bit over the top, it sounds to much.

If you do your math, you realize that it is "only" 37.6"

O'rly...

In my head 2 x 22" gives you a 44" overview..

Like two halfes makes a whole?

Still, its a big facking screen resolution ;)

Actually, you get half a 44" screen.
